The Greatest Gift: Believing In Another.

There’s something truly transformative about having someone believe in you when you don’t believe in yourself. It’s not just a nice boost or a passing compliment—it’s a moment that can shift your perspective and change your life. Suddenly, you see a glimpse of your potential through someone else’s eyes, and it’s both humbling and empowering.

Stuck In Self-Doubt.

We’ve all been here. You may have questioned whether you’re ready for a new role, a big project, or even to speak up in a meeting. You tell yourself, I’m not good enough. What if I fail? That voice in your head can be so loud that it feels like the only truth.

Then, someone steps in. Maybe it’s your manager, a friend, a mentor, or a stranger who says, “I see something in you.” Sometimes it’s a simple “You’ve got this.” Other times, they take a bigger leap, entrusting you with something you never thought you could handle. And just like that, their confidence cracks open the wall you’ve built around yourself.

Turning Points.

For me, this happened first in my twenties when I was pursuing an acting career. After months without work, I doubted myself as an actor. Then, a talent agent who believed in me reached out, and her confidence changed everything. I booked back-to-back commercials and revived my career.

Years later, when I considered leaving publishing to become a coach, a trusted psychologist friend affirmed her belief in my potential, despite my inexperience and fear of starting over. Her faith became my anchor, giving me the courage to return to school and launch my business. Their belief in me wasn’t just kind, it was transformative, helping me rise above self-doubt and take action.

Lessons Learned.

These experiences have taught me two powerful truths.

Borrowed Confidence Is a Gift: Sometimes, you don’t need all the answers or perfect self-assurance. You just need someone willing to loan you their confidence long enough for you to take the next step. Leaning on their belief isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a stepping stone toward building your own strength.

Belief Is a Multiplier: When someone believes in you, it unlocks your ability to do things you never thought possible. Their faith becomes a mirror, reflecting a version of yourself that you couldn’t see. With every small win, that reflection feels more real, and before long, you’re standing taller with a new sense of what you’re capable of.

Genuine Belief In Action.

As a coach and leader, I try to be that person for others. It’s not about giving empty encouragement—it’s about genuinely recognizing what someone is capable of, even when they can’t see it themselves. It’s about creating opportunities for them to prove to themselves that they’re stronger, smarter, and more ready than they think.

If you’ve ever had someone believe in you like that, you know how life-changing it can be. And if you haven’t, maybe it’s time to look for those people—or better yet, to be that person for someone else.

My Challenge For You.

Who can you believe in today? Whose spark can you nurture into a flame? And if you’re lucky enough to have someone believe in you, take a deep breath, trust their confidence, and take the leap. You might just surprise yourself. The power of belief is in your hands. Use it to inspire and empower others and watch the potential unfold.
